LA Consulting's Harry Lorick is a member of the American Public Works Association (APWA) and has received his certification to be a Public Works Leadership Fellow (PWLF) of which there are only 200 Nation wide. One of his tasks as a PWLF is to be a mentor to other Public Works employees who wish to improve their knowledge of public works maintenance and operations in leadership positions. Through the Donald Stone Center, these mentees are able to take classes and get paired with a mentor who guides them through the process.
In 2014, Mr. Charwon Walter expressed interest in the Donald Stone Center program and chose Mr. Lorick as his mentor. Through Go to Meetings and telecommunication, Mr. Lorick was able to assist Mr. Walter through his classes and assessment to ultimately gain his accreditation as a Public Works Manager. Upon receiving the accreditation, Mr. Walter was rewarded with a promotion within his City and is ranked as one of the top 111 public works professionals in North America who participated in the program.
